UNICOR's international symposium convinces pipe producers of time and cost-efficient pipe-in-pipe machines
PEX-pipe, ALU-PEX-pipe and cable, protected with conduit pipe, nowadays often are produced in up to three different work steps. First of all the pipe to be protected is produced (PEX-pipe, ALU-PEX-pipe, cable). In a second step the production of the corrugated conduit pipe is completed and then in a third step the smooth inner pipe is inserted manually or mechanically. It is obvious that this production chain can’t comply with any economically efficient figures due to its various time-consuming single work steps.
UNICOR in Hassfurt recognized this problem many years before and now can offer pipe-in-pipe production lines, whose focus is on time and cost minimization. Pipe producers get offered a one-step in-line production with these machines – meaning the complete production of a pipe-in-pipe product with one production line – as well as the off-line pipe-in-pipe production off the coil.
As most innovative highlight for the pipe-in-pipe production, UNICOR presented its latest corrugator series UC 58. It was shown during a symposium to an international audience of pipe experts in UNICOR’s technical lab in Hassfurt. The machines of the type UC 58/90V with 90 pairs of mould blocks and UC 58/120V with 120 pairs of mould blocks achieve a very high production speed combined with even still better quality due to new developments concerning the vacuum units of the corrugators.
The guests of the symposium were offered some informative speeches of specialists of the branch at the beginning of the event in order to join into the matter of the new technology: Marc Glabisch of Cincinnati Extrusion GmbH presented the latest „solutions for extruders" of the Austrian manufacturer. Cagatay Tulunay of company Firat, Turkey, offered a broad insight into the pipe-in-pipe production which Firat already uses for some years very successfully on UNICOR corrugators. Various questions of the audience of pipe experts proved the big interest at the production procedure.
In the following, UNICOR’ s R & D manager Hubert Kossner presented the next captivating speech concerning the new corrugator series UC 58. He started with a survey of the in-line and the off-line production lines.
At the following live presentation of a UC 58/90V corrugator in the off-line version, with smooth pipe from the pipe coil, the visitors were enthused by the high production quality and speed. A smooth PEX pipe with an outer diameter of 16 mm thereby has been inserted into a simultaneously produced corrugated pipe with an inner diameter of 20 mm. At the end of the line the pipe has been coiled neatly on the coiler as a ready-to-use pipe-in-pipe product.
It was a great pleasure for UNICOR that one customer decided still on site of the presentation of the UC 58/90V to buy an identically constructed machine. Many more interested guests where asking the UNICOR sales staff for detailed offers.
That’s why managing director Klaus Kaufmann could give very optimistic prospects for the future: „Due to the high expertise in this niche market, UNICOR could again hit the mark concerning a technical development that already starts to fructify".
